Community Webinar
~ Harrow Council organised a community webinar titled Improving health inequalities and access to health services for the black community which was aimed at anyone who leads or represents a local black community group.
Among the line-up was Dr Donald Palmer, Associate Professor in Immunology, the University of London. He is also cofounder of Reach Society, the award winning enterprise that encourages, motivates and inspires young people, especially black boys and young black men, to realise their potential and make viable transitions into adult life.
“I was pleased to chair this Community Webinar and hear from programmed speakers as well as Black Community Leaders on existing health inequalities.
What was abundantly clear is that there are wider determinants of health, not just Covid19, which underpin a great deal of the disparities apparent in BAME communities. Tackling these health disparities must done through the involvement of the communities affected. Work is now well underway to address this.”
